Just wanted everyone to know that yesterday I saw on the news that the law about gays serving in the military “Don’t Ask, don’t Tell” was just made illegal . If you looked at the link I left for you on the previous post , you will know what I am talking about.
Yamil has a great post about this on his blog with a u-tube from Lady GAGA on the topic.
I saw that many people had responded to the links on the articles on gay suicide so I decided to add in another related topic for you to consider. You can write about this on your blog.
Check it out Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
There has been an alarming rate of suicides recently related to the gay community. Look at the following links and write a response. We will talk about this soon.
We have drafts of our remembered event stories ready to share. How should we look at them? First, we should look at them as readers. Can we understand everything that happened? Is there enough detail? Can you close your eyes and see what was happening in the story? Is there some sort of autobiographical significance? That is, can you answer the question, “So what?”, why is this person writing this? What does he or she want m know? If the answer is not clear than you need to find ways to improve the piece of writing. Lets try to do a good job of helping our peers improve their stories today.
I just put links to your blogs on the class blog. Please check out your blog to make sure that it is working. If it isn’t let me know because I may have not put it down correctly, or maybe I couldn’t read your handwriting. At any rate, its time to get to know some of the people in the class through their writing, so go check them out! and make comments and ask questions!
I hope all goes well this semester. It is a pleasure to meet you all. Please feel free to contact me on the blog at any time.
I am looking forward to a great semester with lots of discussion and new ideas. and lots of writing!!!
